I’ve been taking care of bridal hair for quite some time, and from the get-go, I’ve been suggesting Intimate Lingerie to all my brides.
I was first introduced to Intimate Lingerie by a friend who was dreading getting her bridal lingerie. The thoughts of getting undressed and explaining which bits of her body she wanted to hide or support made her feel very nervous.

Pauline sadly passed away 2 years ago and is greatly missed by her 2 daughters Tara who runs The Suite Bridal Shop and Sarisha who is now running the family business of Intimate lingerie.
They both grew up with Intimate Lingerie calling into the shop to see their Mum, helping out at Showcases and trade shows. The values and work ethics instilled by their Mum continues to thrive with Intimate Lingerie.
So I had a little chat with Sarisha to find out  the process of arranging your Intimate Lingerie appointment and what to expect.

I asked Sarisha all about the bridal process at Intimate Lingerie.

Before a Bride has an underwear fitting with me I request pictures of her gown back and front so that I can see the structure of the dress.

When possible the bride will bring her dress with her.

We discuss how she feels in the dress and where her main areas of concern are or where her eyes are drawn to that she may not feel comfortable with. It is not easy to open up to a stranger about your body hang ups so we try to provide a safe and personable space for her to do this.

Every women no matter their body shape and size has areas that they do not like and this is where the magic
happens! Every bride wants to be the very best version of themselves on their wedding day.

In most cases gowns are Ivory perhaps with low back detailing and form fitting styles and so a really good foundation is so important.

We can offer a simple bra fitting which can change a women’s figure and highlight her waist in an instant or make something more bespoke along the lines of a low back shaping bodysuit with bra of their choice etc. Each women’s
body is different and so too are the garments she wears on her wedding day. Spending a little time discussing the right solution is paramount.

Comfort and confidence are key so each bride receives a tailored experience along with the underwear that is right for them and their gowns unique details. Having been in the underwear business so long there is no problem we do not have a solution for!

Lifting and smoothing any lumps and bumps is the main focus and again the type of underwear will depend on the gown.

 I am a perfectionist when it comes to styling the correct underwear for a wedding gown smooth lines no seams and
my bride looking her very best is what drives me.

When a bride has recently had a baby and is worried about their post baby body and how their wedding dress will look I feel honored when I am able to take that pressure off and fix the issue with the right solution.

When I see the relief on my clients face and that confidence come back I feel so inspired by that.

When I have a mother of the bride who wasn’t going to wear her dress because it didn’t look and feel right and now
it does and she is thrilled I am inspired!

Its an instant fix an instant pick me up and I love to see the difference in how it makes women look and feel.

It is a lovely feeling to be able to give someone.

My Mum Pauline set up Intimate Lingerie 35 years ago.

To me she was an underwear Guru, my sister and I grew up with knickers and bras everywhere!!!

We were brought up with the knowledge that a good bra and shapewear solves a multitude!

It was my Mum who developed all our underwear patterns at a time when shapewear was non existent on the high street.

My sister Tara owns The Suite Bride and since my Mum’s passing in 2021 I have now taken the reigns of
the underwear business and I hope to continue her legacy.

She loved working in this Industry and I remember sitting behind the stand at wedding fairs and listening to her talk to brides, it is still one of my memories of her and I am still having those same
conversations with women 20 years later.

The best part of my job is most definitely making a women feel better in herself, giving back the gift of confidence which so many lose through childbirth, weight gain, sickness and menopause. There is no better feeling than watching a women shed a tear because she never believed she could look so good with the right underwear, this is a very special feeling and it is slightly addictive I must admit. I want every women who walks into
my shop to walk out feeling confident and better about herself.

My little bit of advice for every bride is consider what underwear you will wear with your gown before
you make that final decision. Have your underwear organized before your fittings and seek advice
from a good lingerie shop first before buying a lot of things that you will not wear!

Top tips for underwear.
Boob tape has its uses but for all day wear it can be very uncomfortable so beware!

Put your underwear on well in advance of getting into your dress on the morning of your wedding. Most importantly be comfortable and confident and enjoy your day.
