FUNtastic child care events is an Irish owned company and was started by Erica Doyle who has over 15 years experience working with children as a Montessori teacher and runs her own Montessori school.
A wedding is all about the happy couple but there is often some little VIP’s that need some extra minding!
Kids always come first!
So when they are attending a wedding and need some attention its hard for a Bride or Groom to step away from the ceremony or celebrations to be with their children and lets be honest weddings are formal and its a long day for little ones. Children get bored.
Often I see children at weddings being cared for by grandparents or family and often little ones just want their parents.
Children are sponges and they soak up the atmosphere around them – the excitement and nerves can sometimes be too much for a tiny tot to take on.
It helps if the children can be kept active in their own space and sometimes step out of the bridal suite or celebrations but still be part of the day in small bite sizes so its not overwhelming for them and they get to enjoy it at their own pace.
Grandparents want to be there to soak up everything for their own child and can’t be running around when they are part of the bridal party.
For my own wedding a few moons back I arranged for a wedding creche to set up in a side function room for my nephews they stayed till late so my sister could enjoy the party!
3 boys under 5 need full attention they loved it!
It meant my sister could be a bridesmaid and the boys had their own party – I remember teasing them that their party was better than mine!
They were present for the ceremony and photographs, then they went and had a play, did some arts and crafts,
They ate their meal with no distractions, had a little rest then came in for a bit of dancing!
The grown ups enjoyed the drinks hour, meal and speeches and the children got to keep their usual meal and sleep routine.
Then the best part the minder put the boys to bed and stayed with them till late.
So I asked Erica Doyle from FUNtastic Childcare events the who? what? and how do you arrange child care at a wedding:
Our website or online search engines are how our brides make first contact.
It starts with an email and then I can arrange a call to chat through suitable packages.
For our meal and speech packages it’s mainly through email and then closer to the date a I send a confirmation email to confirm numbers and times.
If a couple book our nanny service I will usually suggest meeting up a week or so before the wedding so that the children will be familiar with me but sometimes that doesn’t suit geographically.
Most often, We will have a call the week of the wedding to have a chat about the children’s day and night routine. It’s very important to me to make the bride feel as comfortable as possible before the wedding.
A relaxed bride always makes a happier bride!
We proved a 3hr package- This is ideal during the meal and speeches.
Nanny service- Perfect for the couple who have children of their own and would like all their nearest and dearest to enjoy the wedding and not worry about “watching the children”
I have a Montessori school for over 10 years so I am always delighted to be around children.
I had been to plenty of weddings where children were invited but there was nothing to keep them busy or entertained.
So I decided to see if there was a gap in the market and luckily there was!
I love meeting the couples and all the children, the different age groups at the 3hr packages and all the varied activities you can get through in that time but I particularly enjoy the nanny service… spending 1:1 time with the couples child or children possibly for up to 24hrs!
You know that you have given the couple the day they deserve to enjoy!
In the knowledge there little ones were cared for and that the children themselves made memories too.
Enjoy the day, it will be the quickest day of your life!
